Kaia Eakin joined OneShoreline’s Board of Directors in January 2025. She is the Vice Mayor of Redwood City and represents District 5 on the City Council. Kaia is a lifelong Bay Area resident, attended local public schools (including Woodside High School), and graduated from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont with a degree in English Literature. She later earned her JD from UC Davis.

Kaia’s legal career focused on workers’ compensation law, where she served as counsel, representing several national non-profits. Inspired by their missions to serve the public, she transitioned to working directly for local non-profits, including social service organizations, Notre Dame de Namur University, and Project READ. For the past six years, she has worked as a fundraiser for the San Mateo County History Museum.

Kaia’s interest in public service was sparked in the early 2000s when she began engaging with issues affecting her neighborhood and city. She frequently attended City Council meetings and collaborated with other community members to deepen her understanding of regional topics. Her commitment to the community grew over time, along with her admiration for the city she proudly calls home. As a member of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee, Kaia contributed to Redwood City’s Downtown Precise Plan, which was adopted in 2011.
