Marie Chuang was elected to the Hillsborough City Council in 2010.  She was the fourth woman and first person of color to serve on the Council in its 108-year history. She is a two-term Mayor and the first Taiwanese American Mayor in California. She holds a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.

Marie serves on several regional joint power authorities. She has chaired the City/County Association of Government (C/CAG) whose domain encompasses transportation, air quality, stormwater runoff, hazardous and solid waste management, recycling, land use near airports and abandoned vehicle abatement.  She also serves on the Board of the Central County Fire Department, holds a leadership position in the County Emergency Service Council, and the Boards of Samaritan House, Leadership Council San Mateo County and San Mateo Public Library Foundation.
