$4 million committed to jump-start project. Enables development of 30% engineering designs and drafting of required environmental documentation (Environmental Impact Report, or EIR).

Consultant team hired, project kickoff

July 2022 – September 2023
Data collection and alternative development including:
- LiDAR flyover to update the project area’s topography and bathymetry data;
- Reports summarizing the Project’s environmental constraints (e.g. biological resources and hazardous materials), coastal flood hazards, and inland flood hazards; completed a corrosion study.
- Series of project alternatives identified and meetings conducted with shoreline developers, subject matter experts, and environmental regulatory staff to facilitate early input.

Conceptual Alternatives Feasibility Analysis completed to analyze first set of project alternatives.

October 10, 2023
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) process initiated by releasing a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for an EIR. The NOP provided an overview of the scope and nature of the project and invited comments from stakeholders through November 30, 2023.

NOP comments reviewed, feedback synthesized, internal evaluation of further studies needed, and exploration of additional project alternatives.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Interagency Meeting

May 2024
Engagement consultant hired. Executed new task order to complete the analyses required to identify the Least Environmentally Damaging Practicable Alternative (LEDPA) before beginning the EIR.

Community Conversations held to inform Outreach and Engagement Plan. Updated draft project alternatives based on feedback and additional analysis.
